Enrique Garcia Sanchiz

Enrique García Sanchiz (1907-1994). He was born on 11 December 1907 in Monóvar, Vinalopó, Valencia, Spain and died on 23 August 1994 in Coal-Blanc, Aquitaine, Occitania, France.

The anarcho-syndicalist Enrique García Sanchiz. When he began to work, he joined the National Confederation of Labor (CNT)  in Monóvar, Alicante, Valencia, (Spain). In the wake of the fascist uprising of July 1936 it was integrated into the "Iron Column" and then fought until the end of the war in the 26 Division, the Columna Durruti already militarized "Durruti Column".Seriously wounded during the last fights of the retreat, he managed to cross the Pyrenees. In France he was interned in several concentration camps. When he was trying to emigrate to Mexico, he was arrested in Saint-Hilaire, in Saint-Jean de Angely, (France), for the French gendarmerie and in a concentration camp with other Spanish refugees to be deported to Spain.

Finally, on 18 August he was admitted to the Montendre camp, located in Montendre, Poitou-Charentes, (France), which had been established to host French refugees from the eastern areas. On 28 January 1941 he was hired by the "Société Nouvelle" to go to work at the German military base of Bussac located in Busac, Jonzac, Charente Marítimo, Poitou-Charentes, (France) and on 22 July of that year he entered the service of the "Industrielles Entreprises" in Aytré, La Rochelle, Charente Marítimo, Poitou On December 30, 1943, the camp was released and dissolved and was able to regain freedom. After World War II he served in the CNT of Exile and 1992 settled in Carbon-Blanc, Bordeaux, Girond, Aquitaine, (France).
