Biography

Afro-Puerto Rican bookshop owner, revolutionary writer, Black Muslim, Black nationalist, Internationalist, and later anarchist, dies at home aged 92 years — his apartment having effectively become a new prison in the last few years of his life after a series of strokes had left him unable to negotiate the steps in front of the building. Framed and sentenced to forty-one years and thirty days in prison as part of the COINTELPRO program, he served nine of those years and became a fearless prison activist before being granted executive clemency by New York Governor Hugh Carey.
