Heather Heyer

Heyer grew up in Ruckersville, Virginia, and graduated from William Monroe High School in Stanardsville, Virginia. She worked as a paralegal, bartender and waitress.

Throughout the 2010s Heather's innate sense of equality saw her become involved civil rights activism, supporting Black Lives Matter and anti-fascist organising.

On August 2017 she attended the "Unite The Right" gathering of Neo-Nazis and Far-Right Patriot groups, as a counter-protestor.  Towards the end of the day a white supremacy drove his vehicle into the anti-fascists injuring 35, eight of whole suffered permanent injuries, and murdering Heather.

Her murder saw memorial actions around the world, a reminder of the courage of every day working class people who driven compassion, equality, and justice  choose to stand against  violent fascists. Her mother also established a non-profit foundation to provide scholarship funds to young people interested in social justice.
