Elba Piñeyro

Elba Piñeyro was an anarchist militant who came from a family of libertarian tradition, her mother named Sara and her father Agapito Piñeyro had been prominent anarchist militants in the first decades of the 20th century in the Buenos Aires town of Guernica and years later in Lanús.

As a young man, Elba was a textile worker, a seamstress and ironer. It began politically in the “Man of America” Group, which between 1940 and 1945 edited the anarchist magazine of the same name, directed by Edgargo Casella and Aaron Cupit. In this group he was related to other outstanding libertarian companions, such as Libertad Sabaté and Clara Morosoff.

 

Years later, sentimentally united to the anarchist leader of the meat guild Enrique Palazzo (with whom he had a daughter, Dora), participated in the activities of the Argentine Anarch Communist Federation (FACA), in 1955 called the Argentine Libertarian Federation (FLA). Especially, in the organisation of traditional picnics, in the tasks of preparing and issuing newspapers and magazines, in the performance of cultural events, and in the attention of the colleagues who attended the plenary sessions and the congresses of the organisation.

She died on her 91st Birthday.
