Tomás Granado Pozo

Spanish anarchist, Esperantist and poet. Born in Valencia del Ventoso (Badajoz, Extremadura, Spain) the anarcho-syndicalist and Esperantist Tomás Granado Pozo. He was the son of Modesto Granado Gata, from a peasant worker affiliated with the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) who, after fighting as a volunteer during the civil war, went into exile in France at the end of the war. His mother, Gloria Pozo, had to leave the village before the threats from local fascists and he and his brother remained with the grandmother almost orphans and without going to school. In 1949 he was arrested by the Guardia Civil, with His mother, his brother and grandmother, when they tried to pass the Pyrenees through Girona. Sa mother and grandmother were imprisoned and his brother in a hospice of chaplains. He was locked up in several prisons; first two months in the Model of Barcelona, then in Madrid's Yeserías and later in Badajoz. When was 15 years old worked in Valencia del Ventoso in peasant tasks, while mother and grandmother were working in Zafra. When the brother left the hospice, in 1951 all his family got, with fake passports bought from a policeman in Barcelona, spend in France, meeting with your father. There he met Pilar Mulet Font, daughter of Catalan anarcho-syndicalists, who introduced him to the anarchist thought and in Esperanto and with whom he married on December 6, 1956. From 1956 was part of the libertarian movement and was one of the organizers of the Libertarian Youth of Quilhan (Language, Occitania). In this Occitan city he founded with sa companion an Esperantist group and a section of "Mujeres Libres". In 1958 He contributed to the Parisian libertarian magazine Nervio. The August of 1961 attended the Congress of Limoges of the Spanish Libertarian Movement (MLE) in The exile. On March 20, 2004 he participated in Jerte in a tribute to Granado and Delgado –Francisco Granado Gata, anarchist militant garrotado by the Franco regime in 1963, he was his cousin–; this act was repeated on 6 September 2006 in Valencia del Ventoso. In 2006 he received, along with other old militants Extremadura (Pilar Mulet Font, Manuel Méndez and José Barroso), a tribute to Merida organized by the CNT of Extremadura –Pablo Mellado could not attend for health problems. In 2007 he published the book of poems Gotes de poetry. From the Languedoc to Extremadura..; has also published a work with autobiographical touches, My mission here ends.
