Liberated spaces can be found across the world, wherever the burning fires of freedom ignite. These spaces take many forms—Occupations, Squats, Social Centres, Autonomous Zones, Camps, Outposts, Communes, and more.

This reader is an attempt to weave together the ideas, individuals, and organizations that have both influenced and emerged from these experiences. It has been compiled using texts readily available in print and online, highlighting the wealth of knowledge that exists just beneath the surface.

From Victorian Communalists to modern American protest movements, from the Brazilian squatter movement to forgotten bastions of revolution across Europe, this collection spans a wide range of experiences.

Not everyone featured in this reader identifies as an anarchist, but the relevance of their experiences to the broader struggle for liberation is undeniable and have much to offer anarchists and anti-authoritarians of all stripes. All profit from this read will go to supporting Brighton's Cowley Club.

Something you can do directly via their Ko-Fi page. "If everyone commits to 2 quid a month, Brighton's only anarchist social centre will have a lot of money that is sorely needed."
